Stirling Knit 'n' Natter - June 2024

The Great British Yarn Crawl and festival news

The Great British Yarn Crawl runs till the end of this month and, as you can see from the map, there are lots of participating yarn stores across central Scotland and beyond. Run by UK Hand Knitting, there is a prize draw that you can enter by collecting stamps at participating stores.

Festival news - tickets for both the Scottish Festival of Yarn and Glasgow School of Yarn are expected to go on sale this month (or shortly after). Please RSVP on Meetup if you are interested in coming with us so that you we can keep you up-to-date with plans.

Friars Wynd kitchen - For the time being, the Friars Wynd kitchen is likely to be closed on a Monday night. Drinks and cakes are still available (although cakes were also in short supply at our last meetup!) but there will be no hot food available. Hopefully, this will change as we get into the busier holiday season but, for now, it's safer to assume that you won't be able to get food on a Monday night.

Finally, we've booked the accommodation for our next weekend away in February/March 2025 but there are still some spaces available. If you've attended at least two of our meetups, including one in the past six months, and might like to join us, get in touch and I can share more details.

Happy crafting!

Susan

Yarn festival details

Scottish Festival of Yarn: 7 September, Errol Showground, Perthshire. A change of venue this year means that the festival is now only on the Saturday (7th) and not also the Sunday, as previously announced. The festival organisers have set up a Facebook group to discuss travel arrangements but public transport appears to be very limited and it's not clear yet whether any organised transport to the venue will be available so we'll probably organise our own car-sharing from Stirling. Tickets are due to go on sale mid-year. RSVP on Meetup if you're interested in attending.

Glasgow School of Yarn: 18-20 October, Trades Hall, Glasgow. We'll attend on either the Saturday or the Sunday and probably travel by train from Stirling. Tickets go on sale on 29 June. RSVP on Meetup if you're interested in coming with us and let us know which day you'd prefer.

Other dates for your diary

Events in bold are those that we will definitely be attending as a group and I'll add links to the relevant Meetup events when they're live. Other events are listed for information but let me know if you'd be interested in attending as a group. Similarly, email me at susan@yellowgingerdesigns.co.uk with details of other crafty events or exhibitions in central Scotland and I'll add them to the list.

Stirling Knit 'n' Natter - April 2025 We've (almost) moved off Meetup! This month's newsletter is being sent a little earlier than usual so that everyone has time to find our new homes before we finally move off Meetup, which will happen at the beginning of April. It's also a long one since it has details of everywhere that you'll be able to find out what we're up to from now on. Moving off Meetup For the past 6 and a half years, the Stirling Knit 'n' Natter group has been organised on...

Stirling Knit 'n' Natter - March 2025 Getting ready to move off Meetup! Moving off Meetup For the past 6 and a half years, the Stirling Knit 'n' Natter group has been organised on Meetup.com and is how almost all of our members have found us. However, over that time, Meetup has become more expensive and its focus has been shifting more and more from making friends to making money. As a result, I've decided that we will be moving away from Meetup when our current subscription ends in April....
