Easter Monday, Woolly Good Gathering and Scottish Yarn Festival news.

Easter Monday and British Summertime

We'll be meeting online as usual on Easter Monday (6 April). If you're joining us from outside the UK, note that we're now on British Summertime (GMT+1), rather than GMT.

Yarn festival news

It looks like Saturday tickets have now sold out for the Woolly Good Gathering. If you still might like to come with us on Saturday 18 April but don't have a ticket, please let me know, in case anyone with a ticket can no longer make it and is willing to pass it on. My travel plan is to get the 10:03 train from Stirling to Waverley, meet at Waverley around 11am and then get a bus down to the venue in Stockbridge for around 11:30. If you are coming, please let me know whether you plan to meet up with us at Stirling, Waverley or the venue.

In disappointing news, the Scottish Yarn Festival organiser has had to change their plans. There will still be a Scottish Yarn Festival event taking place 12-13 September but it will be a smaller marketplace-only event with timed three-hour entry tickets. The new venue is yet to be announced but I will share further details when they're available.

In-person venue reminder

We're now meeting regularly in Cronies Bar, in the Golden Lion Hotel on King Street. Cronies is in the front door, up the steps and turn left, sign-posted for the bar and restaurant. We don't have a booking so, if you're first there, we're just looking to grab a table or tables to fit 6-8 of us. The two tables immediately to the left as you go in the door (directly opposite the bar) are our preferred spot, if they're free.

Online subscriptions

We switched to our new subscriptions for online meetups in March/April last year, which means that if you signed up for an annual subscription around that time, it will renew sometime soon (if it hasn't already). There is a link to manage your subscription in the monthly online meetup emails, which will let you check when it will renew and what payment method will be used.

Prices will stay the same as they were last year (£20 annually or £5 quarterly). We collected enough last year to cover the Zoom subscription with a little left over. I don't want money to be a barrier to anyone joining us, so the extra funds are used to provide gift subscriptions and subsidies for other events for anyone who needs them. As always, I'm happy to provide a detailed account of what is going on with the group funds, if wanted.

If you would like to join our (completely optional) WhatsApp community, you can do so via this link or by scanning the QR code below. You'll see an "Announcements" channel and a couple of groups within the community. Only I can post to "Announcements" so this will be where you can find important news without any chit-chat.
